Colours X Colours

The immersive video Colours X Colours is the fruit of a two-year collaboration between the artists Thomas Blanchard and Oilhack. For 24 minutes, the two artists from Lyon will offer visitors an opportunity to immerse themselves in the most incredible macro videos of paintings and discover the various natural reactions of the materials. The images, projected onto all the walls in LE STUDIO, capture the movements that occur within artistic creations, painted in acrylic paint, oil paint, or soap, and provide an opportunity, thanks to a high optical magnification, to view painting and its techniques from a new perspective.

Composed of six parts, the video invites each visitor to enjoy a real visual experience, in which each form, colour, and the materials give viewers a feeling of tranquillity and satisfaction. The first part of the video focuses on the density of inks—liquids shown in close up—, followed by motifs of roots and flowers. The experience then continues with a focus on glycerophthalic paint and balls of paint, which eventually explode into an abundance of colours, nuances, and movements.

As of 7 September, the two artists will present their experimental work, which will provide visitors with an intense audio and visual experience, and will be projected continuously in LE STUDIO in the Atelier des Lumières.
